I'm Dieting and Exercising and Not Losing Anything

Welcome to the club.
Calorie counting doesn't work for some people.
I've been at a deficit AND exercising and weighing and measuring all my food for weeks, just to see no progress.
If you figure out a solution let me know.
Bump.
The only way calorie counting doesn't work for some people is if they are inaccurate in their counting (or incorrect in their assumptions about TDEE).
And if you've been in a deficit and not seeing any weight loss (long term), then you haven't actually been in a deficit.
This. Calories and weight can't be created out of thin air.0 -
When I started, I thought approximation would do the trick. When I discovered that I was missing 200-400 calories a day, I got a food scale and started measuring carefully!
Approximation works for some things. You can eyeball lettuce and cucumbers - if you eat 4 cups of lettuce instead of 3, that's only 5 extra calories. But if you take 1.5 Tbsp. of olive oil instead of 1 in your salad dressing, that's 60 extra calories. If you take 48g of natural peanut butter instead of 32 (very easy to do), that's 95 extra calories.
After a while, you'll learn what needs to be measured carefully (calorie dense foods) and what you can eyeball.0 -
As others have stated, please open your diary so we can provide more helpful advice.
Some questions to ask yourself:
1) How do you know you are eating 1300 calories? Are you using a scale? Are you logging EVERYTHING even fruit and veges?
2) What is your BMR and TDEE? (We can help you with that here!)
3) How long has it been since your started?0 -

Oh.
:indifferent:
I could have told her that it doesn't work that way. I bulked in 2012 on a very strict paleo diet...except that I weighed and measured so I could control the rate of gain.
Maybe she should try weighing and measuring? That seems to work for...well, everyone who does it accurately.0
