Possibility for weight gain?

okay so yesterday I weighed 1*4 lbs and today I weighed 1*8 pounds (* stands for a certain number :P )
First things, first... yes I go to the bathroom before I weigh myself. I wear the same clothes each time. I do it around the same time every day.
However... a woman who was.... well... a lot bigger than me got on the scale before I did.
I also weighed myself after I worked out rather than before ( i usually weigh before)

Is there any way either of these things could have affected my sudden 'weight gain'? Or did I seriously gain four pounds of water weight over night?

oh, btw, the scale is one of those metal ones you see at doctor's offices....

    The best time of day to weigh is the morning, after your morning piss and after "dropping the kids off at the pool" if you know what I mean and if you have to do that. I personally weigh in my undies and a shirt, but unless you're wearing five layers of clothes it wouldn't matter really. Weighing after a workout is silly because depending on how intense it was, you're going to be retaining water. It wouldn't matter who used the scale prior, unless it's a really crappy scale and the previous person weighed more than the scale's capacity.

    i mean that's what I was sorta worried about... i feel horrible saying this but that woman was really big... i was sorta expecting the scale to break....
    Well I didn't know if weighing before or after a work out mattered, but thanks for letting me know! I guess I just retained a lot of water.
