Doing better than ever before!! BUT the scale is stuck!!

Guy I need help!! I have lost a little over 30lbs somewhat easily although I wasn’t strict so it didn’t happen as fast as I would’ve liked… Eating 90% clean and hiking a lot!

In a month or so we want to start trying for a baby so I have been trying to get my diet on point 150%! Since I have been strict I have been trying to stay around 1300 calories and stay within my marcos! (80g Carbs; 128g Protein; 50g fat) and I try and work out for 30 mins daily (either elliptical or 30 day shred video) and since I have been soooo strict my weight loss has basically stopped!!

I am not trying to starve myself and want my diet to be healthy (100% get rid of even occasional fast food/soda/junk food habits) before we begin trying in a month. But I also want to see a drop in the #’s on the scale before I need to add in more calories daily for baby…

The scale isn’t dropping at all! :( Am I eating to little calories at 1300?? Do I need more cardio? I feel like since my diet is on point now I am being healthy but not losing anything is not helping motivate me to continue. (P.S. It is NOT possible that I am pregnant yet!)

Current weight: 162 and Height: 5’2”

  • hi first wishing you the best of luck with your little bundle project

Losing weight is sometime frustrating.....try to pay attention to your portions I know that for myself I sometime underestimate them by just a tiny bit. Change your exercise routine to bring back your motivation.

No matter what dont give up.

So the biggest issue most folks have when they start and don't see any results is just that they are eating more than they think. It's extremely common and everyone always denies it almost on impulse but eventually, they weigh and measure all their food and there it is, the reason they were having a hard time.

I was sure I was eating 1700 based on packages, cups and estimates... it was actually close to 2300.

Other than that, your body will retain more or less water whenever it wants to. It's hard to use a scale as an absolute measure of success since water weight can hide 5-10 lbs of fat loss easily. Eventually it will even out but day to day measurements can be frustrating, especially when starting to work out and the body always retains more water.

Stick with it, do the best you can to measure and weigh all your food and drop some more calories off if the weight stays the same for a while more. Most people would lose at 1300 and 1200 is about the floor anyone recommends, so the likely truth is you have a few more calories here and there that aren't getting accounted for.

    Good luck!
