weight loss success on low carb??

Anyone out there eating low carb but not following a specific diet like Atkins or South Beach and experiencing weight loss success? I'm trying Atkins, which is my first time ever to eat low carb and although I've lost 4 lbs in less than a week, the lack of variety is getting old quick. Not to mention all the rules.

thats the problem with cutting out food groups - the plan, and usually the results, are temporary.

I will say that I intentionally do periods of low fat, low carb, but they are very purpose specific. Long term, and the way I lost most of my weight, it is much easier and sustainable to eat whatever you want and just maintain a 500 or so calorie deficit.

As far as the weight loss you have had, sorry to say, but most of it is water. Once you start eating carbs some of it will come back.

As far as variety, eat plenty of meats, green leafy veggies (I eat several heads of lettuce on low carb weeks!), and dairy, but watch the fat intake and preserved meats. For sweet fixes, the occasional protein shake, fluff, or pudding is good.
