Am I good with my cardio?

So I've really tried picking up my cardio lately in addition to eating better. I've been keeping track of all my distances and in the last 23 days I have gone 46 miles.

So a few questions regarding that.

I've never been a huge runner or even jogger. So my "jogging" basically means I walk for a little bit, then jog a little, then walk a little, then run a little, so it's a mix of up and down like that. Is that alright?

Also, while I average 2 miles a day for the last 23 days, it's really been 15 workouts with a 3 mile average. Is doing it that way better than just straight up doing 2 miles a day?

Also, for some more info, my 46 miles have had an average of under 14 minutes a mile, which I know isn't great, but there's been a few straight up walks in there that kind of bring the average up. The terrain is pretty varied and there's a spot I go to quite often which is actually a decent size stairway that I run up and down 6 times. So it's not just straight up flat land.

Anyways, I've been seeing pretty good results so far, I'm just wondering how much potential there is for long term success if I continue with these workouts?

Thanks!

Yes, that's fine. Some people even do it on purpose - google 'fartlek'. But keep in mind you will get more capable the more you do it, so don't be afraid to push yourself and increase the duration of your running periods.

Probably so. Especially for beginning people, running can be hard on your joints, so it's good to give them a rest.

As much potential as you're willing to chase. Keep up the workouts, push yourself, and remember you're in this for the long haul.

I'm confused (nothing new) about what you mean by "long term success". Do you mean for weight loss, or running in general? Your workouts are your workouts. If they're working for you, that's what matters.

Nah, I can be confusing! Not your fault.

I think I meant for in terms of getting healthy. I know a lot of people say when your body gets used to one type of workout it can grow stale so you need to mix it up. I was wondering if the fact that I'm doing a combination of walking, running, jogging in a variety of terrains will help prevent that from happening?

As long as you're getting your heart rate up and challenging yourself, that's the way to go. Intervals are good, and you're basically doing that when you're going from walking to running. Find hills, run the stairs, run a 5K, do a Tough Mudder or a Spartan... Lots of places to go with this.
