Tips to prevent bloating?

Some days I find that even if I eat a small amount of carbs and drink water and avoid sodium, caffeine, carbonated drinks, etc I bloat like crazy. I know some people are prone to bloating and water retention more than others.

Does anyone have any tips to reduce bloating and water retention as much as possible? What kinds of things should I eat? Any supplements or herbal teas I should take?

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question, I was just curious as to what other people could suggest :)
