Hi guys, just coming off a great weekend west coast swing convention and reading some posts about people who can't find a workout that they enjoy, so I thought I'd put a plug out there for social dancing as a fun form of exercise (without even realizing you're exercising) and of course SOCIALIZING.

Check meetup in your area for places hosting dance events like West Coast Swing, Salsa, Lindy, Balboa, Two-step -- typically dance studios and dance (sometimes country) bars, also you can get lessons at community centers and through adult ed. Avoid the big franchise studios like Fred Astaire ($$); you should be able to get a drop in group class that often includes a whole night of dancing somewhere from $10-15.

One of my favorites is West Coast Swing---very popular with all ages and it's danced to anything with a 4/4 beat from blues to contemporary, so here are a few links to give you an idea:

PROS:

Benji Schwimmer & Trendylon Veal (this is a jack and jill competition where you get a surprise partner and surprise songs -- here they are dancing to 2 totally different styles of music):

Ben Morris and Jen DeLuca (this is a choreographed routine for a "Strictly" comp):
