slimming down thighs!! help

this is a picture I took yesterday, and as you can see my thighs are massive and exercise, if anything is making them bigger and I don't know what to do anymore :(

I am in the gym most days, go to zumba classes and run 5k three times a week.. I eat 1500 (ish) cals per day and I am not really getting anywhere, I want to lose about 7lbs (currently around 130lbs) more and then go onto toning more and trying to get some abs coming!!

Any tips on getting rid of the leg fat, its awful I feel so down about it :( thanks!!!! xxx

I think you'll find most people on this website will agree that you cannot spot reduce at all. All you can hope for is to stay in a deficit and exercise. If your bone structure works with you, then maybe you'd slim down. Maybe avoid doing leg exercises? I don't know. Some other more knowledgeable people might comment on that.

TBH.... I'm having a hard time seeing the problem here. You're gorgeous. This just feels like more self-loathing BS that our women and girls are pumped with from day one from TV, magazines, etc.

aww thanks for your reply, annoying that you can't spot reduce haha my body is not in proportion at all!

Thanks, yeah media doesn't do good for us ladies I guess :)

I think I eat too much sugar though, usually go over the MFP limit even when I'm under cals so may try that, or cutting down on dairy also

    Believe in CICO, and IIFYM.

Calories In Calories Out and If It Fits Your Macros

Do not cut out sugar unless if you have a medical condition requiring it. Removing things from your diet only makes your new diet harder to become your new lifestyle. Staying in a caloric deficit will reduce fat all over your body. You just can't control where and when.

I suggest reading the stickied threads. It helped me when I started.

EDIT: Sorry, I missed your statement about going over sugar while keeping calories within your daily limit. Yeah, cut back slightly then.

Seriously?! Your legs look fine. Not seeing the problem here. One day you will look back at that picture and think "what was I complaining about ?"

Yep. I wish my legs looked like that. You look like you have nice quads, and you're not fat at all. At all.

That opinion aside, I feel like my legs looked smaller when I was running a bunch. Not a LOT, but training for a 10k. I think it was a combination of more muscle in my legs and lower overall body fat, but that's when I felt most satisfied with how my legs looked. Too bad I hate running and I gave it up, lol.

It's pretty much near impossible to spot reduce, especially since you have such little weight to lose. IMO, you look fantastic!

    Keep doing what you're doing!

It could be genetics and then there's not much you can do there. Other than that, if you carry your weight on your thighs, you might consider strength training. Just an idea.

I wouldn't worry about the sugar if you are not over a lot. I read in other forums that the MFP limit on sugars is low. I usually go over on sugars and that's mostly from fruit.

I would start working on strength training and your body composition changing now since you are so close to where you want the scale to be. Check out this lady, in the final picture she weighs more, but looks better. You may to stop focusing on the scale and use other indicators like body measurements, improved fitness goals, etc.

And honestly I stared at your photo for a while trying to see where the problem was, I didn't see it. You look fantastic

Yes, OP, I'm not downplaying your concerns, but most women (me included) would love to have your body. I suggest you focus on being healthy and enjoy your life. Your thighs are not huge by any standard. I understand you may want to change your body. I agree that weightlifting may be what you are looking for.

Those legs don't look "massive" at all, not even out of proportion. Though if you are unhappy with them though I suggest eating at a caloric deficit and lift heavy for squats and deadlifts, that way you will lose fat all over (including thighs) but will lose minimal muscle, all while getting stronger.

Honestly...? I think you're looking too deep and should just enjoy the fact that your shape is hourglass...and most women would KILL for your figure! be happy and flaunt what youve got sister! youre doing just fine. like an above person suggested, if youre looking to gain strength, try strength training, but dont be surprised if you just happen to be one of those ladies thats just a curvy girl. Curves are beautiful! and you look fit with them, so flaunt it!! :))

Oh...I can feel your pain. You're an hourglass shape like me, and for that, you actually have fairly small thighs. I get called tiny all the time, but I will never have a thigh gap like yours. If it really bothers you, try weight training, as suggested. But if genetics wins out, just accept that your thighs and all your other curves are gorgeous as they are. Hugs!!

Leslie Nielsen quote seems appropriate here

" she had a full set of curves and the kind of legs you'd like to suck on for a day "
