Success allows for goal re-assessment

No idea if I spelled that correctly...

Anyway, I have been working on my healthy living, and by default, weight loss since the beginning of the year. My peak weight was 171 pounds and I am currently bouncing between 135-137. When it came time to choose a weight loss goal, I set myself up to reach 130. There was no particular rhyme or reason to that number, but it was smaller than I can remember being for a long time, but still seemed obtainable. Now that I am close, I realize just how arbitrary that number really is. I would still be quite prou of reaching it, and still plan to try, but there are other perks I've realized that have nothing to do with a number on the scale.

Now that I have new/more confidence to reach other goals outside of weight loss, I realized that I don't really care so much about the endpoint of 130. I have been working on this for a year and have decided that whatever I weigh on December 31 is what I am going to be happy with. My jeans or swimsuit or work suits won't fit better with 5 more pounds down. No one will notice one way or another, and if I can't see a fitter happier me in the mirror, the number is moot.

I don't want it too see like I am giving up, or won't care if I do reach my goal, but for once I want to have a new years resolution that doesn't involve weight loss. There is so much more out there, and I want to work for it! If in the 7 weeks left in the year I don't lose the 5 to 7 pounds, I will be okay with that--something I never would have thought at the beginning of this journey.

Here is to all of those who have met their goal, have just started, or are somewhere in the middle. I hope along the way you accept your success and are a happier healthier person because of it.

I also believe the numbers are arbitrary. My main goal is to be healthy, regardless of weight. Congrates on your status and happiness -- you deserve it.:flowerforyou:

Congrats on your success so far, and I like your way of thinking, it means you are happy with yourself, and wont stress over the end result. Koodoos to you
