How long will it take me to lose this weight?

Hello! My name is Madeline and I am a dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, currently I am 5'5 and weigh around 118 pounds. I have 18 pounds to lose before the start of my season (around September 15) I am eating no more than 1200 calories per day and working out almost everyday. I am just not seeing results as fast as i would like, is this because I don't really need to lose weight so my body is holding onto it? I realize if my career wasn't dance then I would not need to lose any weight however to be a dancer you must be very thin and I need to get back to my weight of 100 pounds in order to keep my job. Why is the weight not coming off fast? I have been doing this for 2 week and have only lost 1 pound. I never eat over my calorie limit and burn around 600 calories per day. Very confused help me out!!!!!

Swim. Burns fat, tones and is easy on you.

Don't start taking drugs like so many of those nutty ballet dancers do. Better to quit dancing than start with the drugs.

Stop gasping for air. ;) I didn't mean you should quit dancing. :D But don't get sucked into that.

My sister dances professionally. I know how many of those girls are hooked and how they slyly peer pressure each other. Don't do it.

So your goal is 100 lbs? At 5'5 that will put you waaaaaaaaay underweight. You should seriously reconsider this goal and/or speak with your doctor.

You're already on the lower end of a healthy BMI. Losing any more weight is 1) going to be extremely difficult and 2) take a very long time. Your body simply does not have the amount of fat needed to constitute a lot of weight loss. This is why you should really speak with your doctor. Trying to reach your goal is putting not only your health at risk, but your career too.
