Okay, so my brother posted this on Facebook the other day - "I can successfully say that I'm down 32 pounds in less than 2 months."

Keep in mind that he is 28 years old, 5 foot 10 and weighed about 180 lbs two months ago. Please tell me this is baloney and that this is physically impossible unless you are 500 pounds?

32 pounds of fat for someone not very overweight? Absolutely

It is more scary than impossible.

Depends on what he is doing and the calorie intake, if he is burning more than hes eating, it is POSSIBLE, is it healthy? Thats another question.

Not impossible, though very unlikely, to do but impossible to do in a healthy manner.

32 pounds of weight can easily mean muscle/water/fat if he starved himself which is normal these days.

if he is all fat and no muscle, then yea he could do it. i lost the same in my first 2 months, but started at 275 (with a pretty fair amount of muscle). also a decent amount of this weight comes from water/food in your digestive tract

like others said, possible yes, healthy no.

^This. It is ABSOLUTELY possible. It just depends on what he did with his calorie intake over that time and how active he was.

    Possible, sure.

My husband went from 230 to just under 200 from late January to late March of this year. Upped his exercise (from nothing to 1-2 hours a day) and cut his calories, logging 1200-1500 most days. Of course this is not totally sustainable, and he's the sort of person that is heavily affected by changing routines, stress at work, etc. He put back on 5-10 and has been holding steady there. (So now around 205.) He's wanting to get back to it - he's 5'9" and thinks 175 is best for him. But he has to take action, and IMO needs to find a middle ground. The all-or-none mentality isn't great for long term success.

"Impossible unless you are 500 pounds"? Probably not. I'm 250, and I am down 12 lbs from the beginning of this month. And that's considering I only work out like twice a week. I feel like if I were to really step up my workouts, I could do 32 pounds in 2 months at my current weight.

However, it does kind of sound like your brother is full of crap. If he really was only 180 at 5'10", then I don't see how he could have possibly lost that amount of weight in two months. If he did actually manage that, whatever he's doing is probably very unhealthy.

So this is your brother not 'brother'? and you doubt his honesty? hmmm well is it possible? oh yes it is at that age it sure is.. my bigger question is have you seen him? at that height/weight you'd notice a large loss like that. If he isn't nearby then ask for current pictures...or hmm take his word for it and be proud of him!

Is he cutting carbs? If so, it's possible but still pretty aggressive and probably too aggressive for someone at his weight.

He is not fat by any means...he is actually in good shape. And yes I question his honesty. He has a tendency to exaggerate things.
