Toning thighs

I've lost 19 lbs since January with cardio, basic weights, and diet. My pants are all too big except for one trouble spot. My thighs. That's the one thing keeping me in higher sizes that don't fit me anywhere else.

While I know that spot reduction isn't possible, does anyone have any ideas for exercises that could help me tone my trouble spot to at least get into the size down that fits me better everywhere else?

For just toning, leg abducos are good for inner and outer thighs... leg raises, lunges, squats. I have the same problem, I feel your pain!

You say you know you can't spot reduce and you ask how to spot reduce? "Toning" isn't really a word. You can build muscle or lose fat. Tone would be building the muscle and losing the fat to show the muscle. Unfortunately you will probably just have to keep losing fat or look into a different brand of jeans that fits better.

As da_bears pointed out...you know you can't but you still want to know how?

ETA: Strength training is used to work on body composition, but it won't be a "spot" thing. You could try that, but I'd suggest researching it so you understand what is going on.

The use of the word 'toning' tends to make people freak out on here  However, if you want to see a change in your body....Continue with calorie deficit for continued weight loss and use WEIGHTS THAT CHALLENGE YOU!!! Squats, lunges, dead lifts, planks, pushups.....compound moves do wonders for your body. Keep up the good work!

Try the 30 Day Shred, seems to work wonders for some folks on her.

I am on Level 1, Day 9, my thighs have gone down, but not as much as I would like. My problem area is inner thigh which seems to be very stubborn fat. I have decided to cut my carbs t 150 grams per day from over 200 grams. This morning the scale finally moved without having my bathroom movement, so I guess something is working.

I would also try kettle bell exercises as it tones the whole body.

Yes, it's called you cut out an additional 200 calories per day since you slashed 50 carbs. Magic.

And no, you do not "tone" your whole body with an exercise. "Tone" is a stupid fitness industry marketing term for a reduction in body fat. Thus, your muscles will appear to be more "toned" since there is less fat covering them.

You said it yourself. You can't spot reduce fat lose. You will just have to eat at a caloric deficit and continue to lose weight. At some point your thighs will get smaller. There is no toning exercises. Exercise works muscle, deficit drops the fat on top of the muscle so you can see it (toned). They are two different things.

Non of this will "tone" your thighs. You should train your legs and strengthen them. So once you've lost enough fat around them they look better.

    Yup, I've gone fully nutty.

A clarification of the term is classified as crazy. Got it.

Cutting your carbs down just helped you created a caloric deficit. That's all. Good job though.
