honestly, you need to narrow things down. you can't just say "a good place to eat." what are you looking for, exactly? italian, american traditional, asian, spanish? and then you have the sub-cultures... spanish- mexican, cuban, dominican, peruvian, brazilian... asian you have thai, chinese, japanese, korean...

i'm getting so hungry right now.

Google maps shows it to be about 2 minutes. Went with a bunch of teenage girls. Something for everyone!

Loved it. deli food is a must in NYC.

Asked a man working in Charlotte Russe where he recommended and this was the place.

Yes this is making me hungry too

That pizza place sounds great, just not sure I want to bother with the subway that time, and the kids will be starving. I'll keep that in mind for next time though.

Pack snacks to tide them over?

you can always jump in a deli to get them a quick snack to tide them over.

but now that i think about it, how old are the kids? are they picky eaters? i mean, you'll probably be better off going to a deli or a pizza place, or a sandwhich place.

and the what is "that time" for the subway? the subway is only super crowded in the morning, and later in the afternoon, for rush hour. middle of the day it's pretty easy to get on and off.

and unwritten rule is that if the kid can duck under the turnstile, they don't have to pay.... just don't be too obvious.

I just read your post about the exhibit and staying for the day so then just stick around times square. Does your daughter like American Girl dolls? The store is right over there. It unbelievable! and there' the M&M store, but I can't stand that place but kids love it!

Probably doing the M&M thing. Might stop by American Girl but maybe not LOL.

I know, I don't really want to eat there, but I just can't imagine dragging the kids through Manhattan, especially as they'll probably be starving by the time we're out of our museum. We can walk 10ish minutes either way though.
I don't blame you, I remember when my daughter was that age. Stay close by

Last summer when I stayed at Hotel Edison on W 47th Street, there was a little convenience shop that sold the most amazing deli sandwiches! YUM!! You can grab a sandwich there and carry it over to Duffy Square, find a table and people watch. After that, if you walk two blocks east, you can take your kids to Toys R Us which boasts an indoor Ferris wheel!

    Have fun!

They're 6 and picky eaters, yeah, lol. I like the idea of that cafe that sells pizza and sandwiches. That would work. I'll just have to resist the cheesecake.

There are Deli's everywhere you can get salads, sandwhiches made the way you like them. Bricco in hells kitchen by time square has everything gluten free which is a bit healthier. If you can you go to places that have 3+ spots in the city. Out here with chains even if they are small, they are required to put calorie counts on everything which I wish the west coast would do. Splerge a little, because you will walk off and gain lots of calories you can eat. put it in the cardio section and track your time walking a slow pace. As a nurse, I get about an extra 1000 calories a day just from walking. Pick one meal a day to do guilt free, and pick up veggies off street vendors and visit our many delis and you should find you're not going over, and if you do, not by much!!

They have to have a certain amount of locations for that law to apply. I found that out when I went to Bare Burger and asked about calories and the waitress said since they only have like 6 locations it doesn't apply to them.

I believe I remember being told it's 15 locations and over.

    oooooh, okay. makes sense.

and dude, bare burger is delicious.
