Try not to do too much all at once.
For example, start with just logging all your calories and a walk (or some other form of cardio you like).
I swore to myself that is ALL I am going to do - because I know I will demotivate myself with too much too soon (esp on the exercise part) and the more weight I lose the better I feel, the more exercise and healthy food I want to fit in.

And most importan advice: DO NOT weigh yourself every day under any circumstance. Once or twice a week is optimum - so you don't get frustrated if you don't lose any in a couple of days, etc. (becuase of water retention, etc.)

And just tryst that you WILL lose weiht if you stick to your calorie goal, no matter what. So it cannot be for nothing!

    Good luck!

Hello. Welcome to MFP. I understand about the frustration. I get like that when I don't see results immediately, but I keep coming here to remind myself, that it's not just a weight loss I'm trying to do, it's a whole lifestyle change and it takes time. People here are great at reminding me.
  • That's great advice from stella77, but before you even get to that point, you need to know what your "why" is and make sure you really believe in it. If you're here to lose weight just because you think you "should", that's not a strong "why". If you're here because you have high blood pressure and following a healthy eating plan will help you lose weight while getting healthy, that's a better "why". It could get even more specific than that. So, make sure you're really clear on what your "why" is. Write it down and carry it with you at all times and read it out loud, frequently, throughout the day.

I understand the frustration - trust me! Have a good look at one thing though before you start beating yourself up - how much easier is it for you just to breathe? This is the first thing I noticed.

Don't give up -we're all here for you!

Every body's body is different and thus so are your results. It comes on quicker then it does to take off. I finally had that breaking moment and decided there was no other alternative then to loose weight. My health, job and well being made me look at the WHOLE picture. It must be a combined effort of diet and exercise. I you do one without the other your results will be slower. I am challenged when it comes to proper nutrition and portions. Face it, I love to eat and do not know my boundaries, otherwise I would not be here. I started a gym and changed my eating habits and have seen the change that can happen. Not sure how long it will take to level out, but I will ride it as long as I can. If you are just starting look at your work out schedule and see if it need to be altered. Evaluate your foods and the times you are eating. A little change could make a difference, but a life change could do wonders. Good Luck.
  • I have been here since June, look at my ticker. it SUCKS *L* I was walking 4-5kms at least 3 days a week, but guess what? I wasn't walking fast enough. pushing my son in the pusher at 3-4kmph wasn't enough. I joined the gym. I have lost almost 2kgs (4lbs) in a week or two (I can't remember when I weighed in at 124kgs, I didn't want to step on to the scale again).

I had been watching my calories, eating over the 1200. not breaking the recommended 1400. This week. I threw out the calorie count and started looking at the saturated fat (My personal trainer said to watch that) and now I hardly reach the 1200 calories, but I've lost ><

I have never been a good eater. I don't eat enough, then when I do eat, I probably over eat, or eat something that is crap so my body stores things. I am thinking I have to just work my *kitten* off at the gym walking 5- 6 kmph for 25-30 minutes doing a total of 50 minutes a day ( I walk to and from the gym).

You have to find your groove, tune in to your body. WOrk out what it likes to do. I know my calorie count isn't healthy at the moment. So I have to work UP to eating the right amounts of food (My PT was shocked at my food diary today with the little amount I actually ate) I just have to find things that are better for me to snack on and what not. . .

    So.
    1) listen to your body
    2) work out what it is you are doing that "isn't working for you"
    3) re-adjust
    4) KEEP MOVING!

Unfortunately, we want everything right now. It just doesn't work that way. It takes a committment to change your life for the better and not give up until you reach your goal. If weight loss was easy, everyone would do it.
