Too Many Carbs?

As a picky eater who was never keen on meat, I have decided to pretty much go vegetarian. However, I am training for two half marathons in January and February of 2011 and have been consciously trying to eat the recommended amount of protein. While doing this and staying right at my calorie goal of 1200 a day regardless of my workout calories, I have noticed that I am generally exceeding the recommended amount of carbs, is this a problem? Does any one have any suggestions as to if I should try to restrict my carbs a bit while still striving to get the proper amount of protein or if I should just shoot for my 1200 calories by just eating "healthy" foods like fruits, veggies (and cheese, my weakness)?
Also, I am looking into protein shakes to eat for lunch, which brands are best for chocolate and strawberry flavors?
Thanks,
Cassandra
