Being Healthy = Money in the Bank

I have noticed over the last few months I have had more money saved up than usual. I went over the changes I have been making, and here is what I came up with:
Trying to cut wine out during the week = Jug of merlot 13.99 x 2 = $28.00 I did not spend on extra calories
Smoking ALOT less = 6.00 x 2 = $12.00 I didnt spend on cigarettes ( Usually 4 pack/month type smoker )
New Boyfriend = Less time out at bars/restraunts with Girlfriends = $40.00 I did not spend on extra calories
Walking to the store while the weather still permits = ummm...maybe $10.00/month I saved on Gas Money
Wow.
Not only do I feel better and Look better, I have more Money!!!!
Has anyone else noticed this as well?

My wife asked me to stop at the ATM the other day. I had to think about how long ago it was that I went and had to take money out of my pocket. I swear I had the same 20 bucks in my pocket for a month!! I can only guesstimate, that between buying lunch every day, and soda and snacks at the convenience store, I was spending anywhere from 80-100 bucks a week, plus ordering take out for dinner maybe 2 nights a week, and no more beer(for now ;-) ) it easily at least 120 bucks a week.

Not this girl. Weight loss was EXPENSIVE. Sure, I don't eat out as much, but I bought a new wardrobe for every size (needed to feel beautiful in the present moment and not save rocking hot clothes for some future size), healthy food is not cheap and my gym membership/gas to and from the gym adds up fast.
THAT said, it's worth every penny

I definately agree with some of your points! Sometimes I suffer at the grocery store becasue I see how much my healthy cart of food is going to cost me, and think, wow, instant dinners are $10 for $10, but yes, in the end, very worth it!!! I have been skimping on my works outs as I moved away from my gym..but my membership is free so I cannot complain too much0 -
I agree!!
Crap foods = MORE MONEY. Depending on what you used to buy and buy currently. We used to order food a lot or get fast food. And we'd just buy a lot of junk foods and such. Buy A LOT of TV dinners. Plus I used to eat throughout the day in large portions so we save more food of course. Also, I save all leftovers now which can last us a few days worth of dinner or lunch. I used to throw any kind of leftovers away.
This whole life changing experience has been awesome and I am never going back.0 -
haha if it wasn't for all the new clothes I had to buy I'd say the same thing,
But really on the weeks where I manage to make all my meals like I like to do now days (but life doesn't always permit) I save alot and rarely have to go into my "savings" account to make it til the next pay...its growing that little account.0 -

i'm so with you. losing weight is very expensive, but worth it. NONE of my clothes fit. i would wear them, but they did not fit. i'm still in the process of replacing ALL MY CLOTHES. i have to prepare 95% of my meals and as mentioned, healthy food is NOT cheap.
still worth it. i wish i had more money.0 -

Same here! I spend plenty on great and healthy foods. I will not scrimp. On the clothes front, two dear friends of mine got together out of town this past weekend and went on a shopping spree at the Goodwill store to buy me some clothes that fit since I couldn't afford to go out and buy a new wardrobe. I was so surprised and delighted. I haven't seen them yet, but what sweeties!
good luck and happy eating0 -
Well you lose some buying more expensive food at the grocery store and my gym membership, but i think overall I am saving.
I spend an hour everyday at the gym working out after work. This used to be time going to the movies or going out to dinner or going to play pool or a bar, most of which required spending money and eating a ton more.
Also I normally order cheaper stuff at restaurants too. Water is always free. I get wraps or salads or chicken sandwiches which are often or cheaper or about the same. You save big on not ordering appetizers as well and dessert. Also instead of eating the whole thing I will often eat half and take the other half for another meal!!!!
I eat out less for lunch. I don't get anything from the vending machines at work except for an occasional diet coke.
I think overall I have either saved or spent about the same, but either way I am happier and healthier so its worth it to me even if I did spend more.0
