New and looking for helpful advice

So, I'm starting to do this taking care of myself and eating right thing again. I know that I feel better when I do, and so far it's been going well.

I'm hoping to get some feed back and helpful info on smart things to invest in. I know I need a new scale, does anyone have a suggestion on type, brand etc? Also, looking for easy ways to work out at home, doing this all on a budget and can't afford a gym membership.

I appreciate any input!

Walk, run, do step up aerobics, push up and squats. They will all cost you a grand total of $0.00

Do you have access to a library? I like to check out workout DVDs, and if I find one I really like, then I'll think about buying it. YouTube also has thousands of videos to watch-I've been doing yoga from youtube recently. Convict Conditioning(I think that's what its called?)is one I see recommended on here often for equipment free workouts, although I haven't looked it up myself yet.

Invest in your diet not your workout equipment and accessories.

If you have time to shop thrift stores or yard sales you can find all kinds of workout equipment for little money. I have to move something out on the porch or to the barn every time I bring another piece home. I also used milk jugs filled with water for weights until I bought a couple of dumbbells. I use a $10 watch to time my walking and swimming. I washed and dried it last week, and it's still working. Not sure high dollar gadgets would be that tough.

My diet has been my main focus thus far, trying really hard to eat cleaner, make my meals, and plan ahead! Hopefully this goes well

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

I'm trying to eat cleaner myself...it takes work! I started doing monthly challenges - no charge for these - just exercises you can do from home, but we check in with each other to keep each other motivated. I'll send you some info!

dancindiva7, your answer is in your name. turn on the music and DANCE! You can do deep knee bends on the arm of your couch. Hold onto the kitchen counter for back kicks and leg lifts. Just move to your fave music, alternating fast and slow. Do stretches during the slower songs. That's how Denise Austin started her empire. You go girl!

You're right, I used to go out salsa dancing 4 nights a week but the scene has slowly died in my area...time to just make it happen for myself!
