Counting calories and making smart choices (usually!) with those calories. I've always worked out so doing the same thing there (spinning, cardio sculpt classes, cardio machines and weights). So far 16 lbs. gone with 7 to go. My doctor was so thrilled she is going to recommend this site to all her patients who want to lose weight!

  • I am new to eating healthy, but so far I have cut out soda, junk food, beef, pork and all things fried. I have to start somewhere.

I've drastically reduced the amount I eat at fast food or restaurants, and when I can't avoid it I choose salad. I've been watching my calories closely and I started working out at home, using free online videos.

Diet and lots of weight training. I hate cardio.
  • First, I made the decision that it would be easy to lose weight. I also knew I didn't want to upend my life too much with extreme dieting or lots of exercise, so I'm doing as little as possible. I've always liked eating healthy foods, so I'm mostly watching portion sizes. It's working. By following the food guidelines set here, I'm dropping about a 1/2 # or more a day.

I've been trying to get healthy for about 3 years and it's been rough. The first thing I realized was that I have to be happy and in the right place, both physically and mentally. So, I picked up and moved back to Minneapolis and that helped me along! Since my move last year, I have lost over 40 lbs! I have basically changed the way I eat and exercise. I get to the gym at least 3 times a week, ideally 4 times a week, and work on cardio. I found that I need to work on the cardio more than the strength training right now. Once I get the cardio to where I want, I will turn my focus to strength, while maintaining cardio.
  • I cut out all the sugars, fat and high sodium. Eat lots of proteins. Drink lots of water and walk on my treadmill. So far it seems to be doing the trick.
  • I count calories....choosing mainly lean meats, lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains & keeping it as unprocessed as I can :) I also exercise 6 days a week. I love variety....it keeps me sane ;)

When I started near the end of October I was running/walking at least a mile everyday until 1 week ago I injured my knee. I still can barely walk so I cannot really exercise. I am following the food tracker and I am still losing 2 lbs. a week. I never thought I would ever hear myself saying "I WISH I could do cardio of any kind." I feel like I could be doing soooo much better if I could just move!

I sprained my ankle at the beginning of October and I felt the same way. I was super busy and hadn't been to the gym in about 2 weeks, was going to start going back to the gym at the beginning of October, sprained my ankle, and was just able to get back to the gym. I did go a few weeks ago, but my ankle just wasn't up to it. I was still in a lot of pain. Now, I'm just slightly stiff, but the exercise is helping that.
  • Trying the counting calories-getting b-12 lipo shots..water-water- light exercise- Really just recently started.
I did lose 10 lbs on the Atkins diet, but I never can stick to it long.
  • lowering my calorie intake, doing jilian michaels 30 day shred, cycling everyday, and cleaning.

I haven't cut out junk food fully yet because I started on Friday and I'm waiting do my shopping this Friday and that's why I haven't cut out the junk! Otherwise my diet would be much better!
