Keep binging on dates?

Hi there. I haven't weighed in a few days, for several reasons. One, it's a few days before TOM and I am bloating terribly (I look pregnant right now D: ) and I never weigh in during this time. And also because I keep indulging in dates.

It's not rational. Dates are quite possibly my biggest trigger food. Today I ate thirty medijool dates, and combined with the bloating, I feel and look terrible.

I try to keep them out of the house but that doesn't work for those of us who have easily access to a store that sells them. I last weighed in five days ago at 117 lbs, but with the bloating and binging combined I'm probably 10 lbs heavier.

How can I control this?

For anyone suffering from binges, it's a sign you're daily calorie goals are too low or you're being too restricting with food in general.

Increase your calories [at least] around TOM. When cravings hit, include a date or two with every meal.

oh my when I read the title I thought you meant going on dates with people made you binge! Totally different scenario lol!

I found myself doing the same with Lara bars, which are just dates and nuts. I only buy them now if I am out and about and don't bring them back home with me.

But if you find yourself going to the store to get more then hmmm.... what if you came up with a replacement? Instead of buying dates, even if you feel compelled to leave the house and go to the store you buy something else? Maybe another dried fruit like dried apricots, where you felt you could have just a few?

I've been doing the same thing with cashews. I have decided to stop buying them. :(

I agree. OP, I mentioned this before but you're right on the brink of underweight BMI and probably should stop restricting so much. If you gained 10 lbs. or 3 lbs., it's water. Your fear of weight gain is holding you back from having a healthy relationship with food, I think. I wish you the best.
