Ohh, running.

Hey guys! So, I guess you could say I 'cycle' between the gym, running/hiking the mountains I live by and street running when it comes to my workouts. Recently, I've decided to try something knew. I know, I know, you're not supposed to weigh yourself every day, but I did. For the last six months. It's been...stressful needless to say. Every day I'd freak out on whether or not this pack of 100% fruit-fruit snacks was going to cause weight gain in the morning. (I know, I sound crazy right?) But last week this all changed. I woke up at 6:00 A.M. and decided that for the next seven days I'm going to wake up early and hit the streets running, all while not weighing myself until the end of the week.
Throughout this week, I've found I've fallen in love with running. I suck at it, sure. On a good day (one of which I haven't had since my winter running 'cycle') I can run six miles straight, but on the next day I might be lucky to run 2 straight. I'm so bad. But I don't care, I shall run regardless!
I hope I've made progress, and I'd like to further my running if possible by tracking my pace, mileage, etc. Do you guys have any advice, tips, and more specifically apps that can assist me with this? I ache for a running watch, but they're so expensive and therefore I was hoping there's an app that equally suffices.
Okay, I'm done rambling. I'd love to hear some input! Thanks in advance. (: ~Kasey

Try Edmondo or RunTracker. I used the first one until I got a GPS watch recently. Fairly accurate and integrates with MFP. Best of luck with the running - you will get better. Just remember to take rest days so as not to cause an injury.0

I use RunKeeper every time I run and it's great! It tracks all your workouts, mileage, pace per mile, total time, personal records, and lets you set goals...so great!
They have a paid version that gives you more charts, but the free version works just fine for me!0 -
I like the RunKeeper app, and I know some people like the Nike+ Running app.0

Running is fun. Not everyone agrees with that statement but to each his own. I could never get my sister to run that's for sure.
I find that running is easy some days and difficult on others. There was a day where I struggled to run 7 miles, but easily ran 11.5 another day. It depends on a lot of factors, like how much/how little/what we ate the morning/night before, period/time of the month, how well we slept or lack of sleep, lack of rest days in between, etc etc.
My training schedule is based upon two things and it changes every week: my work schedule and the weather. Both are changeable. I run 5 days a week, but some weeks I do 4 if all my runs are a long ( 8-12 miles each ). I want to push the distance of the half marathon within the next couple weeks and I think I can do it!! The best run I had this past month was a day when I did 10 miles and it was a few days into my period. The days before my period are the hardest, but I keep on trudging through. If I don't eat enough then running is hard. I also notice if I do not sleep well running is hard.
Also, I use Endomondo. It is my favorite to track my runs.0 -
Oooh sweet, I'm gonna have to check out all of these apps for tonight's run. Thank you all so much!(:0
