Chocolate craving chaos!

Hi, my name's Shannon and I'm from UK N/Ireland nice to meet you everyone!
I tried to lose weight using Weight Watchers but the community wasn't very nice and I didn't like their points system. I often went to bed hungry and ended up binge eating throughout the night resulting in more weight gain
Anyway I'm 22, 5''2 and almost 14 S! I REALLY want to lose some weight but I have a huge obstacle to overcome and that's my love of chocolate lol. I am only on my first proper day of dieting and I've been substituting my chocolate for beetroot when I feel a craving coming on because beetroot is sweet and I really like it but the day seems to be going so slowly because all I can think about is the fact that I haven't touched any chocolate! Would anyone have any tips on how to ignore or pass over such a strong craving/addiction please because I could use the help!
Also, this is off topic but how can I figure out how many potatoes would be a healthy amount to eat? I love potatoes and we rae actually having potatoes, beans and sausages for dinner later. I'm only going to have one roasted sausage and two dessert spoons of beans but as to how many potatoes I don't know what to do as they come in all different sizes lol!
