I went and bought a bunch of nice dressy clothes at Kohls's today. I'm usually a 16 and at my highest weight I'm an 18. I didn't have time to try them on, so I just grabbed 18's and XL's thinking that at the worst, I would feel happy when my pants were too big :)! I didn't count on them being too tight! Ugh, I looked AWFUL in some of them, just disgusting! I know I"m working on it and I'm trying, but it was very discouraging and really made me want to just say forget it and start eating again! UGH!! I was so upset that I started crying because it's just so frustrating!

Ouch! That sucks. The good news is that you can hang them in the front of your closet and use them for motivation. The holidays aren't here yet, so you still can make progress.

I totally understand where you're coming from... been there for sure! But recently I finally got out 3 pairs of jeans that stopped fitting me a long time ago and there was no better feeling in the world. Don't let this be an excuse to fall off the wagon due to frustration!! Let it be your motivation to have those jeans falling off your a** in no time!!!

    Hey there-
Don't give up! I don't know if you shop there all the time, but I find that clothing sizes vary so much between different brands and stores. The cut/style might have something to do with your experience as well. (Think about low waisted jeans vs. the pants and skirts that they have been selling w/ the much higher waist...).

In any case, take heart! Maybe it's none of these things, but you can do this! :flowerforyou:
  • This happened to me a week ago with my "goal jeans" .. I've managed to squeeze into them for a few months, but it wasn't too pretty. I put them on a week ago and could barely button them. And that's why I'm on this site right now.

We've got to stay motivated and focused. Use the frustration you felt when put those pants on as a fuel to keep on track. Those pant WILL fit you - you just have to be consistent.

Don't get discouraged. Sometimes the sizes and brand vary. I finally slimmed down to wear some of my old clothes that I probably should gave away 4-5 years ago. I have a size 10 that fits like a 14 and I have a size 10 that fits like an 8. I am afraid to get rid of my larger sizes for fear that something will happen and I gain it back. But same with my smaller sizes. Just call me closet horse. Anyway, do what your suppose to and hang in there! MFP has all kinds of advise and help - mostly good. :flowerforyou:
  • About the jeans thing.. well there is a reason I have joined this website. I used to fit into my jeans perfectly. If not perfect, it was loose. I think I have seven pairs of jeans that fit well and I gained weight from stress eating and now I can only wear skirts that go up to the waist because I feel so self conscious about my hips. My parents and I went to the mall and they insisted that I buy new jeans instead of dieting but that would just be such a waste of money and if get good fitting jeans at my size now, I would not be motivated to go back to my original weight and size.

Hang in there honey!!! I buy clothes too small for me on purpose!! So i feel AWESOME when i do fit in them... sooo many size 18's dont fit me (too small) and yet others do.... AND some 16's and 14's..... i wish they would regulate the sizes more!!! ugh!!!

If you give in you WONT be able to fit into them.... however if you just have a little patience then you will be able to fit into them.... then they will be too BIG!!! Imagine how you feel when those pants are simply Falling off you....!!!! :drinker:

I thought I was huge at 204....now I find I was actually HUGE at 270.......So now I am trying to look cute........in fat girl clothes, while the real me.....the sharp dresser is stuck in yoga pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Cant't wait to get into all those clothes.

Hang in there honey.....you will get there :)

I'm so confused about my jeans as well. So most days I'm in scrub pants because that's what I work in. I DO recognize that they had become very tight. Now they're all comfortable. But the jeans I bought in August because last year's jeans didn't fit are still as tight as ever. And I haven't weighed this much for years, but the jeans I was wearing just last year are still SUPER tight. Got them on, but they looked spray-painted. I wear a lot of elastic waist skirts, but I didn't realize I had lost track of my waist size so completely. Gotta keep working. That was my primary motivation for joining the site. Pants. Must. Fit.

Sizes are defenitely deceiving. I have some 16 khakis that fit like 12s! It's crazy world of numbers. One thing I do as I go down in sizes that fit....I give away all my "fat" clothes so I have no temptation to cheat. If things start to feel tight....then I have to do something about it or go out naked!! Just wanted to throw that in there as I see a lot of people keep a wide range of sizes in their closets.
