I just purchased a fit bit one. Can anyone tell me if I have to log exercise separately or does it automatically synch. Anyone want to be friends. I have not a technology person and want to make sure I am using it correctly.

I'm already on your friends list :) I have a fitbit one, and it does already log what it estimates your workout calories to be. I wear a heart rate monitor and I will log my workouts separate. When I log them here on MFP it'll ask me what time I did those workouts and it'll cancel out any calories the fitbit said I burned during that time.

MFP has a Fitbit Users group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/1307-fitbit-users

    Connect your accounts: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/30

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Log food & water in MFP. No need to log step-based activity. Non-step exercise (like swimming or spinning) can be logged either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. It will take trial & error to find which you prefer.

Aha great question because I've just been thinking about this too! I went running this morning and on my HRM I burned 333 cals. On the fit bit calculation it was like 317 so very similar.so I was thinking ahhhh shall I just go with the fitbit then and not bother logging my HRM ones as they were so similar? I think I will investigate over a few days and see if they stay similar. If so I might just go with the fit bit ones.... Anyone had any experience with this? I was a bit confused as I ran not walked so I would have thought more calories would be burned on a run but then was surprised it was so similar....
