Fitbit Vs. Regular Pedometer Question

Hi! I have an odd question. I've been wanting a Fitbit Flex for a long time now, but can't seem to pull the trigger due to price. I have a regular pedometer (Sportline Digital Distance Tracker Pedometer) I mainly wear it when I'm out of the house to count my steps.
I know that when you have the fitbit you set yourself to sedentary on here and Fitbit automatically sends your daily calories burned to MFP and all that. Now, my question is, could I wear my little pedometer every second I'm awake, set myself to sedentary and enter the total calories burned at night before bed and do the same thing?
(Does any of this make sense?)
My pedometer tracks steps, distance, calories burned and total activity time. It doesn't have a memory, so when I press clear, it completely clears.
