80+ to lose, new here - portion control and cravings

So, I'm new on here....and hoping this might be just what I need to get myself back into shape. The past four years have been the most difficult of my life and I have allowed myself to eat way too freely which resulted in tipping the scale just over 200 lbs. I have not been putting myself and my needs first and the result has been weight gain.
Enough is enough! I could really use some motivation, tips, et cetera from those in a similar place or those who have been there/done that.

Hi Luluzete,
I need to lose 90 lbs, and started 3 days ago. I find it easier when I drink plenty of plain water. It fills me up, and I'm suspecting that when we feel hungry, we are usually thirsty. Because once I drink water the hunger goes. I think its probably a placebo effect of some sort.
