DJ Steveboy does really great running podcasts that keep the bpm up around 160 - 180. You can download them for free on iTunes I think.

On the cross trainer/elliptical (can't run at the mo) I play anything by Queen; don't stop me now, flash Gordon, I want to break free, etc and stuff like that.

Modern pop doesn't really do it for me - must be getting old :-)

wow, that's a great list lisajuly!

Thank you :blushing: funny thing is that a couple of years ago, I wouldn't have listened to most of it other than old school disco and the 80s dance stuff. I was dating a guy who listened to club music and heard Boom Boom Pow and thought "hmm, this would be great to run to." I started listening to some other radio stations and the list was born

I love some ac/dc to run to. Like Thunderstruck or TNT. I need some rock music to keep me pushing. LOL

This is me too. I seem to run best when I have Guns n Roses, AC/DC, NIN, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickleback, Soundgarden or lost of classic rock pouring out of my headphones.

The second best music for me to run to is disco - embarrassing, but the beat is perfect for my pace.

I completely agree....sometimes the 80s rock completely does the trick, other times the dance music makes me run faster.

I know someone else mentioned it before on the thread but Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart...perfect running song. Also Ozzy's I Don't Wanna Stop. Just about anything by The Offspring also has the perfect tempo for running.

Natasha Bedingfield has some with a good beat and since she's really into self-empowerment her songs can give me that extra push during a run. "All I need" is on my current playlist.

Put "Kings and Queens" at the beginning, "Closer to the Edge" in the middle, and finish with "Vox Populi". Trust me.

Pendulum are pretty good to run too... My fave being Voodoo People (remix) or blood sugar.
The video to voodoo people is especially fitting as it has a load of people running a race:

Here's my playlist from the 5K I ran yesterday:

The Cave - Mumford & Sons
Lost in the Shadows - Lou Gramm
Vox Popluli - 30 Seconds to Mars
    Let's See How Far We've Come - Matchbox 20
Closer to the Edge - 30 Seconds to Mars

If I remember correctly, it was about 23 minutes of music and I went just over it. Perfect rythym to just focus on moving your feet to the beat and get in the zone.
