stick with crossfit or switch it up?

Hello all. I fell off the MFP bandwagon, but I'm back.
I purchased a month-long Groupon for Crossfit and have reached the end of my month. I went 3-4 times a week and felt like a bad*** every time I walked out. The amount of weight I could lift increased and I watched my strength grow. I know exercise takes time, but I have seen no physical results at all in terms of my waistline, etc. I've actually gained some weight around my stomach area (fat not muscle) and can't for the life of me figure out why because I've also been eating relatively well.
Before, I lost 20 pounds in no time walking six miles around a local lake every day after work-- which is about $150.00 cheaper per month. This wasn't terribly long ago, so my metabolism shouldn't have changed *that much* since then.
Should I stick with crossfit or go back to the old routine that worked? Still planning on lifting now that I have an idea of how to do so safely, but thinking of higher reps and lower weights to be safe. Every time I've focused on walking/running and cardio, I've seen instant results. Once again, I understand this doesn't happen overnight, but any time I've worked this hard before, there's been some change within a month...

Were you in deficit during this month? If you were gaining weight it could be water weight or you weren't paying close enough attention to your diet. Crossfit is basically a hard cardio workout, you will never get huge strength gains doing it (and for the record I lift and do crossfit). You say you are planning on lifting are you joining another gym? If so I would suggest doing that and continuing your daily walks. Only thing I would suggest is going as heavy as you possibly can with good form, forget about higher reps.0

If you enjoyed CF and you think it's a form of exercise you can commit to, then you should continue doing it. It sounds like your nutrition plan is not what it's supposed to be if you're doing CF 3 - 4 times a week. It sounds like that needs some attention.0

DO what you enjoy, that way you will be more likely to stick to it... forget about instant gratification... and aim for long term goals... if your lifting... aim for an amount x your body weight... if your running... aim for a distance... then aim for a time... decide WHAT you want your body to look like... Muscular ( NOT body builder muscular.. BUT maybe fitness model muscular?) OR whether you would prefer to look thin and lean like a triathlete or marathon runner... maybe a combination where you have functional strength for things like climbing, slack line... obstacle course runs... THEN choose a gym.. and be careful if you are going Crossfit... do your research...it's currently the peak of a borderline "fad" check the gym's credentials... MOST important do what you do because you enjoy it...0
