Stomach problem area. Advice?

Hi everyone. I've lost weight slowly probably over a period of 2 years going from 140lbs to 111lbs (I'm 5'2) I've only started exercising over the past few months, doing cardio around 5 times a week for an hour at a time. I've added some situps and some ab exercises but this doesn't seem to be making any difference. My stomach is still massive and that's not an exaggeration. I can grab tons of flab. I have a buddha belly and a lot of the time I look around 6 months pregnant because of my stomach area. I know you can't spot reduce fat but it's frustrating because I'm happy with every other part of my body. I have slim arms and legs and no excess fat anywhere else but my middle and like I say I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's huge. I'm just wondering what I can do differently that will help. I've no idea where to start when it comes to weight training etc. Is doing ab exercises a waste of time when I have all this flab in the way?

Strength train. Adding heavier weights (it sounds like you are mostly doing cardio - so just adding weight in general) will help for body recomposition. Search posts in the success stories about how weight lifting changed their bodies - you can see some very serious changes with very little weight loss (mostly from lifting).

I will tell you that my weight training and other things through my crossfit class really helped with body re-composition. I still have some issues with excess skin and fat in my abdomen (particularly when I bend over)... I am hoping more targeted ab work and leaning out will help with this.
