I was with Dr. Poon for about 2 months. Didn't lose a thing but I think that was more me than him. It is meant for people with serious metabolic issues, in order to get to see him, you must have 2 issues off a list. I personally have family risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and have PCOS and morbidly obese so I qualified easily. Based on your profile, it's not the right diet for you. It is meant to correct the conditions more so than the weight - the weight loss is part of correcting the conditions.

He is incredibly strict and if you fall off one day you have to start again. I found his beside manner quite abrupt ("Let's see how fat are you? VERY FAT!") and found that after 3 months and losing so little weight and being blamed for everything that I couldn't handle it.

I do know people for whom it works miracles....really, I know two people that did it for a few months AND were done and they both had close to 100 lbs to lose. Bottom line is your commitment level. If you agree to never eat cake again in your life at your birthday and never fall off the wagon, then this is plan for you. If you are like me and would like to be able to keep some modicum of a lifestyle of being able to eat out, etc. but in more moderation than you currently enjoy, it's not for you.

I know he's branched out since then and doesn't see patients 1x1 anymore so that problem that I have with his personality might go away for some, but it is something that needs to be medically supervised because of the low calorie consumption on it (unless you're willing to eat 3 heads of lettuce daily). They monitor your urine (similar to Dr. Bernstein but without the shots).
