What is the right amount of calories to eat a day to loose weight? Should I be watching my sugar or sodium more or both?

    follow the set up on MFP and it will give you this number. essentially if you want to lose 2 lbs/week MFP will set you up at maintenance calories - 1,000, for 1 lb/week maintenance - 500. It all depends on your goal, your current weight, gender, etc.

    When you go through your profile/goas set up My Fitness Pal calculate the amount of calories you should eat to lose weight. Yes, watch sodium and refined sugars. These things are not an issue if you prepare your own whole, natural foods and stay away from prepackages/processed foods.

    Just keep in mind that MFP does not require for you to log in sugar or sodium (unless you are creating a food in your menu). However, since you are essentially doing a low calorie diet, items like sugar and sodium will naturally be lowered as well. I hope this helps!
