Becoming a ZUMBA instructor!

Hey all,

I'm IN LOVE with Zumba and I've taken a number of classes for the past year and half. I attribute the majority of my weight loss and road to fitness to Zumba. Not to mention it has given me a WORLD of confidence not only on the dance floor but in life!

Anyway, after class last night my friend (who's a zumba newbie) asked me if I'd ever be interested in teaching because she preferred following ME! It got me thinking...I love doing it, I'd burn more calories teaching AND supplement my income.

SO! Some questions for those of you who are certified instructors:
What needs to be done?
How long does it take?
How much does it cost?
Do you like teaching?
How time consuming is it?

Thanks for any input!!!

check out zumba.com there is a whole section on becoming an instructor. They have a list of places the sessions are held and the price. i've looked into it many times. Seems fairly easy to do.

    Good Luck!!!!!
  • First go to Zumba's website and find a training you can go to (I'm taking the basic zumba instructor class in December...I've been given an aqua zumba class lol)...pay and then attend training to become certified. Put some feelers out in the mean time to where ever you go and see if they would hire you on. There are lots of places you can approach if not like dance studios.

    Good luck girlie!!

I would be interested to know how to start as well. Good Luck!
  • Oh and one more thing....talk to your zumba instructor. Mine is now my boss and was eager to help me learn ;)
  • Just what others have said, jump onto the website and sign up for a class, its that easy! One day workshop and you are qualified. I've heard some ladies who have never attended a zumba class go and get certified.
Look into what's hot at the mo, i.e. maybe toning?

But do think about how many classes you would like to take per week and make sure you have enough hours to practice routines (not sure if you are working full time, etc). The biggest part is knowing your music and moves inside out.

Also, check out different classes as every instructor has their own style - they can be very different! Trust me! Check out youtube to see what I mean if you cant get to a class.

Have fun and go for it!
