New to MFP and just wanted to say hello :-)

HI all,

I have just been to see my nutritionist and it is now official according to my BMI i am overweight. I now have to lose 18kgs and have made the conscious decision to actually meet this goal. I am feeling a little unsure as dieting is not my forte and I find it hard to keep my willpower so looking to speak to anyone with tips or anyone in the same situation maybe ?

I have just recently joined the gym and do the following classes since last thursday - spinning, rpm, body combat, and some running, my aim is to go 5 times a week for an hour.

My biggest issue is snacking and I just find it hard to control so anyone with tips would be much appreciated.

Thank you all and keep going :-)

Wilhelmina

    Hello :)

Good for you for taking control of your life and health! Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like.

Concerning snacking, I love to snack as well. At first I tried to cut out snacking all together, but most days I failed at it. So I decided to incorporate snacking into my daily food intake. The biggest thing that helps me is keeping healthy snacks ready to eat at a moment's notice ... like fresh fruit, veggies already cut up with some hummus, granola bars, trail mix, boiled eggs.

The best way I've found to control myself with things like snack cakes and ice cream is to not have them around me. My self-control is very lacking sometimes!

    Good luck to you :)

When my motivation lags, I just make a commitment to continue logging no matter how ugly my diary looks. That usually helps me get back on track fairly quickly. Good luck, sweetie!
