An invitation

Hi, I'm Ashley, 29 years of age and about 25 kilos (~55 lbs) heavier than I want to be. I used to be even heavier. I have lost around 40 kilos without any structure but have been stalled for a while.

I was one of the 90's editions of childhood obesity being quite fat before starting high school. At home fresh veg wasn't a big part of the diet and processed snacks and soft drink flowed like water from a mountain stream. I am changing this in what should be a sustainable way.

I have previously trained with a personal trainer and will be adding resistance training to my program soon. Right now I am walking as a primary means of building capacity to train. Where I live I have great hills to train on with walking and in times to come jogging and running.

I have joined MFP now because I have reached the end of my tether with a few things and I had a wake up call in the form of my father passing from complications from coronary artery bypass surgery last month. (Thank you in advance for any condolences. The remaining family is doing very well.) My obesity (well my enormous gut really) has caused me to hold back a lot and cost me opportunities.

I invite all those who care to to add me as a friend either for inspiration or just someone to talk to from time to time. By sharing our experiences and learnings we can maybe make the journey easier for all of us.
