I just injured my back

I've done something to my back... on a rest day believe it or not. I've been working out 6 days a week alternating bootcamp, bodypump and Insanity. Bootcamp for 10 months but in the last 6 weeks increased it to the 6 day routine.

On Sunday I was just piddling around the house doing housework and BAM back spasms put me down the rest of the day. Tried to go into the office on Monday and boss told me I should go home b/c I was clearly in pain. Went to the Chiropractor on my way home, back again this morning and just got home from getting X-rays. I seem to be getting worse not better. I can't stand straight and my right lower back and groin are in awful pain. Chiropractor believes there is a nerve pinched creating the groin pain and the back spasms are the muscles trying to protect the nerve. I'm getting ready to search for a back specialist too.

I'm concerned that I cannot get any exercise in... nothing. It's a chore to get to the sink and brush my teeth... showering was feat of sheer will power. I fight for every ounce that comes off and have been doing okay since I upped the exercise. I'm worried that everything that I've worked so hard on is getting ready to go down the toilet.

Any suggestions on what I can do to at least work on toning, or targeting upper body? It feels like everything I do causes pain.

I appreciate any suggestions.

I'm sure some good advice will follow after this post, but you're hurt now and it will take time to recover. Do what your Doctor says and don't make it worse.

Also, you can still lose weight / maintain by diet alone. If you're going to be seditary while recovering, make sure you watch your calorie consumption calorie and set a low weight loss goal. Maybe even consider eating at maintenance while during your recovery.

Yeah, follow DR orders, or you could get much worse and be out for even longer.
