Hi guys!

Thought a fun topic would be to list all crazy fad diets you've heard of or tried, describing the gist and maybe adding your little anecdotes!

I did the cabbage soup diet over 15 years ago. I can never smell cabbage soup again!! haha. I lost 7lbs in the first week but all went back.

Common' everyone, jump on the fad-diet wagon!!

I've never tried any. The main reason? Every person I have ever known (usually coworkers) who did a fad diet, shake plan, etc, gained weight within a short time frame. I have had literally DOZENS of coworkers who were so gung ho about (insert name of fad diet plan) and lost 40 lb in a month or 13 lb in a week or whatever. But then a year later or 5 years later they were the exact same size, at least to my eye, that they were in the beginning before starting that fad diet. I don't consider that impressive.

The only people I have known who SUCCESSFULLY kept a large amount of weight off long term were those who adopted a new lifestyle with lots of exercise or used Weight Watchers (which I'd call somewhat faddish or gimmicky, yes, but not "a fad diet"). I haven't done WW because in the past I only knew about the meetings and I thought that for me they would be demotivating and depressing, rather than helpful. I think My Fitness Pal is perfect for me, though, and have no need for anything else.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying NO ONE succeeds with fad diets or shakes and such...I am sure some do, or use it as a jumping off point for a healthier long term lifestyle. But 49 times out of 50, that's what I have seen...minimal or short lasting results.
