Do you put strength training under cardio?

I was lifting weights and entered it in strength training and noticed it did not give me credit for negative calorie balance.
My cardio input gives me negative calorie credit but not when I enter info in the strength exercise field.
Am I doing something wrong or should I enter dumbell training in the cardio field?

Yes, you can, and I do, but like any other exercise in the database, it's not very accurate.

Strength training does not show up as a calorie deficit in MFP. I would imagine the reasoning for this is because of the huge number of variables (e.g. Rest between sets, current muscle mass, speed at which you do a set,) that would need to be calculated to begin to come anywhere near an accurate count for strength training.
That being said I like to add the strength training to the tracker anyway because it lets me know what I need to look for in my next lifting day, and helps me track my progress. For calorie count though I do not count the calories burned from strength days and just eat my normal count on those.
If you are really inclined to know your calorie count for lifting there are some calorie / HRM's that claim to be able to function in an impulse type training environment, but be prepared to spend upwards of $200 US.0 -
I do not. I used to use my HRM and then put it under cardio, but I read somewhere that HRMs don't accurately monitor calories burned during strength training, so I stopped. I don't eat back my calories so I guess for me it really doesn't matter.0
