Non-Chest Strap HRM/Activity Tracker

I currently have a Body Media armband that is offered thru my gym. However, sometimes I forget to put the armband on after showering even though I've had it for 3 months, lol. My main issues are that I can't see my information until I upload it (our version doesn't sync with the app) and it's not waterproof. I'm starting to incorporate swimming in my exercise routine and I'm pretty active in the pool or ocean when we go on vacation as well. I would like to not have to worry about taking it off when I'm in the water . If it can record my steps and offer sleep tracking, great, but those are more bonuses then anything. I mainly want it to count the amount of calories that I burn throughout the day, whether I'm exercising or taking a rest day, and have it viewable on the device itself or thru an app via Bluetooth (I'm assuming that's how it works, but please correct me if I'm wrong).

Can someone point me into the right direction and give me suggestions?

I have the Polar FT7 with the chest strap. My issue with that is that I don't want to have my calories burned only counted when I have on the strap, I walk at work during my lunch break and I don't have the chest strap with me nor am I going to wear it everyday (it's not comfortable to wear all day long), not to mention the water issue when I swim. Also although the battery is replaceable in the watch, I can't find it locally and I'm don't want to order just that online.
