Living in rural Ethiopia - need suggestions

Hello MFP World! Long-time fan, first-time poster.

I just relocated to rural Ethiopia for the next year or so, and am settling into a routine here. I'd like to get a solid workout routine going, in addition to getting back on track with food tracking post move.

Current annoyances:

- no gym/gym equipment anywhere in sight. (there probably are some in the capital, but that's a 12 hour drive)
- the dirt roads around here are perilous as the rainy season commences, so I'm thinking its safer for my ankles to wait 'til dry season to start running again. (gravity doesn't like me)
- wishy-washy power, and inconsistent internet access, so relying on online videos is unhelpful.

I have a couple random workout DVDs on hand, an old yoga mat and a crude hand-made weight (made out of cans filled with who knows what), but what I am hoping to hear from you are your favorite exercises that can be done in your living room, sans equipment. I know I will get bored of the routines I know, so am looking for fun ways to mix it up. Websites with PDFs I can download/images/good descriptions of the exercise are ideal, but I'm open to any suggestions. Looking for overall strengthening, with a special focus on core strength cause I need some, and slimming/toning my arms.

Besides my old yoga mat, I'll mostly be working out on concrete until the dry season, in case that changes anyone's suggestions - please be kind to my knees :flowerforyou:

tl;dr: please suggest (non-video) suggestions for strengthening exercises that don't require equipment.

Thanks!

Google "bodyweight exercises". I live in the Arctic so (no roads, no services, fly in/fly out only)....

For cardio-type activity, I usually choose to be outside; it's more fun imo.

You can develop a bodyweight routine that is as easy or as hard as you need.
