Is Exercise essential to weight loss?

I diet regularly. I have been dieting for almost 2 weeks now. My the main things I consume are; 8oz of fruit juice (diluted), an egg or two, corn or green beans, rolled oats with almonds, rice krispies cereal, and a sandwich with raspberry fruit spread. I hate exercise, although I do walk a lot. Will I reach my goal of 110 or under (current weight is 122) without exercising and keep that weight at a constant? ~thanks

Only if you want to look good.0

Not essential, but has significant benefits that make it essential for a healthy lifestyle.0

Looking at your food diary and what you say your normally eat, yes, you would get to that weight, but you probably won't be breathing when you do.0

It's not essential, no. If you don't enjoy exercise then don't do it. That's my theory. Weight loss is hard enough without making it harder.0

you might need to start logging for a couple weeks properly, everything you put in your mouth, weighing and measuring it all to really know how many calories you are eating. Without some consistent logging it is impossible to know.0

Ok I will continue logging. Just signed up today for this. just getting the hang of it. ~thanks all0

No, but it sure makes it a lot easier. Without exercise to lose 1 Lb per week, all I could eat was around 1,850 calories...with exercise, that number jumped to around 2,350 calories most days and around 2200 on slower days.
To boot, people who exercise regularly look better and this is really regardless of their weight...
And really, there's no getting around the fact that regular exercise/activity is essential to actually being healthy. I'd personally suggest finding something you enjoy doing and do it. So many people have this warped perception that for it to really be exercise they have to be pouncing about their living room to some DVD or droning away on some cardo machine at the gym...you'd never catch me doing either of those things because I think those things suck...however, I do enjoy riding my bike, walking my dog, and hitting the weight room a few nights per week for about 45 minutes to an hour.0 -
