Goal Settings: Sedentary vs Lightly Active

Supposing you had a job that some days you were tied to your desk and other days you were on foot near most of the day, which option would you choose?

My full time job is a desk job, but I also have a part time job with inconsistent scheduling that's on foot. What I do is use the Sedentary setting, and then I made up an exercise for when I work the part time job that is about equivalent to the difference between sedentary and lightly active for me (~100 calories or so). Not all that accurate but it's been working for me so far.

It's trial and error. Even though you do work at a desk does not mean you are sedentary all the time. If you get up often to walk back and forth, housework, shopping, kids and don't just sit on your butt as soon as you get home, then select lightly active. If it doesn't give the results you want then go back to sedentary. Or try sedentary and if your are losing too fast switch to lightly active.
