    oh hun, your scale is clearly broken. You'd have to eat 70,000 calories in 3 days to gain 20 lbs. That's 45 slices of cheesecake, or 233 slices of cheese pizza.

    I'm pretty sure you would remember eating that. But a new scale!

    You are burning more calories in your workout than you are eating meaning you have gained 20 lbs in muscle.
    This is a good thing because weight loss is just a focus point. Health and Fitness is about what you can achieve in yourself, how strong you feel, and the feeling of immunity you feel towards many illnesses. Does it really matter how heavy you are if you feel that good?

    She has gained 20lb in muscle in less than a week? No.

    Sounds like too much to be just water retention - probably a combination of water and scale inaccuracies.

    I would get a new scale and weigh in the morning at the same time with the same or no clothes on, and track from there.

    another vote for this method. Also, i resist weighing more than once a week at most, as I know i fluctuate 1-2 lbs day to day.

    don't underestimate using measurements either - again probably best not to measure more than once a week, but sometimes when my scale doesn't move, my jeans are still getting looser, and ultimately that is more important to me than the number on the scale.

    Yes, I always thought I was the only genius who thought of this, hahaha

    Always weigh yourself on the same scale. Even if it's broken, it should at least be consistent.

    Pick up the scale, put it in the garbage then go to the store and buy a new digital one!

    Either the 200 was bogus or the current weight is bogus. That big of a move is going to be mostly water weight, and 20 lbs is about 10 quarts (2 1/2 gallons) of water. Unless you've suddenly swelled like an inflatable toy, I can't see any way to retain that amount of water.

    Water + food.... tell ya what, a decent bm and urination cycle and that 20 pounds will be a lot less.

    I know just from what I've eaten and drunk today, I'm up 4.5 pounds since this morning.

    Could be a crappy scale, could be that you aren't accurately measuring your food.
