Starting out

I'm interested in getting into a workout regimen as well as lifting weights. Lifting weights isn't something I've incorporated very much into my workout regimen, but I know it's beneficial when it comes to weight loss (which is my goal, about 25 lbs). So far I've been doing workout videos, but I get bored doing those pretty quickly.

Anyone have advice about how they started out with a regimen without a trainer? Especially people who weren't into working out in the first place (which I'm not, but I know it's necessary)
