How do you know if you have a large or small "frame?"

I always thought I had a large frame as I am just under 5'9" and wear a size 9 1/2 shoe. Now I am not sure. Is there is a formula or some way to tell?

Approximate your frame size by wrapping your fingers around your wrist. If your thumb and index finger overlap, you likely have a small frame. If the two meet, your frame size is probably medium and you are large boned if they do not meet.

Oops! Deleted my post!
You look pretty slender in your pic to me! 5'9" & 136lbs is pretty trim. I would guess you would small/med frame. I have broad shoulders and no matter how much I weigh, I will never be petite... so, I consider myself large frame.0 -

but what if you are too fat and your fingers dont meet?
i never had this problem, but when i was overweight it was harder for me to touch the 2 together.
now they overlap....0 -
yeah its more of a shoulders and waist kind of thing. if you have wide shoulders and have a straighter figure you're probably medium to large framed. if you have a smaller shoulder width and more of an hourglass figure you're probably small framed (though i've found that that waist thing isnt always true soooooo yeah)
you look small framed in your picture.
the wrist test really only works if you dont have any fat on your wrists.0 -

Thanks! This is so interesting! Having been tall and overweight for so long, I never thought of myself as being small boned or delicate in any way. Interesting.0

Here is a nice tool to determine body frame. Long and short fingers make the wrist method less accurate. Try this tool.

My shoulders are really wide, even at my heaviest (276 @ 5'3"!!), they were the widest part of my body. I definately have a large frame.0
