Rest days

Hey guys
Just wondering is there a 'better' day to take your rest day? I usually take my rest day mid week so wednesday/thursday or is it best so work 5/6 consecutive days and then have your rest on a weekend as far as results are concerned? thanks!

Really it's going to come down to what works best for you. Part of being successful with exercise or training is how you recover; if you don't recover, then it's all rather useless. With that being said, take into account what's going on in your life, how you eat, how frequently you exercise and the intensity of that exercise. Put together a plan, follow it for 3 - 6 weeks, evaluate how you feel, and make adjustments. Nobody here can really tell you how you should rest, especially not with the information provided.

    Whatever works best for you.

I like to take my rest day on Friday. Since I have more free time on the weekends, I run one day and strength train the other. That carries through the week and then on Friday I rest. Your number of rest days is up to you too. It's not the same for everyone.

If you only take one rest day a week you will always be doing 6 days in a row, just a different 6 days... Why not try a 3 on/1 off approach?

take a rest day when it makes sense for you to take a rest day.

me scheduling rest days on days when I have dance class is a nice idea- but then it's not a rest day.

I make sure I have 2 days where I'm protective of the time spent- meaning- I don't do ANYTHING physical (unless I want to giggity giggity)... it's house hold clean up- laundry- dinner with the man- TV and nothing else outside the bedroom.

a day off is my day OFF.

If strength training, I wouldn't do more than 3 days of training before taking a rest day. Generally I only do 4 days a week, with my rest days being Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday. Your muscles build when you're resting, so you need to give them time to do that.
