Hello, what do you like to eat for a bag lunch?

So I actually had bariatric surgery a month ago and am trying to follow a reasonable diet. My main problem is that there are certain foods I can't eat due to recently diagnosed food allergies - wheat and peanuts being the most troublesome. Then there are other foods I don't like and can't force myself to eat - like yogurt and cottage cheese. I am wondering what other people like to eat for lunch because I find lunch to be the hardest meal to plan for. What kinds of things can you take to work with you? Anyone got some creative ideas (I mean beyond leftovers)? Let me know. Cheers!

I love bringing a big fruit salad! Fills me up and allows me to have some variety. I get pretty creative with regular salads too - recently I used baby spinach, tuna, pine nuts, feta cheese with a light balsamic dressing...it was really tasty and kept me filled up throughout the afternoon. My husband is really picky, and breakfast is usually pretty rushed - so I like to use lunch as my opportunity to satisfy some of my 'cravings' while staying creative. Good luck!0

I like to take hummus and vegetables--cauliflower, celery, carrots and red pepper strips are my favorite!0

In the salad department, I love feta cheese, ranch spritzer, black beans, corn, cucumber, tomato, etc.
Sandwiches, I like to switch it up between ham and swiss (no condiments unless I'm throwing caution to the wind) and tuna0 -
When I go to the store I pick up An item called Flatout Bread. I take one off them and spread a thin layer of Hummus and layer in Baby Spinach and either Ham, Chicken, Turkey or Roast Beef Thin slice deli meat. Roll it up and half half for 1st break and half for 2nd. Applesauce, Carrots, pita chips. I don't have any of the bread here right now so do not know if and how much wheat is in it. I mainly stick with veggies and hummus or fruit most of the time. Plus I do small salads.0

Ditto to the previous mentioned salads and hummus. Also just about anything you can wrap in a sandwich you can wrap in lettuce (Since you mentioned you have wheat allergies). I love soup and have access to a microwave at work, so not a problem heating homemade varieties. In regards to frozen style meals, I have found that Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers are low in calories and lower in sodium than most other brands.0

Flatout bread is good, but Lawash also makes low carb wraps and they're only 70 calories for a nice sized wrap! I fill it with oscar mayer deli fresh lunch meats (usually around 45 calories for 6 slices), a slice of Galaxy Nutritional Foods Veggie Slices (either Pepper Jack or Cheddar - 40 calories per slice), some fresh spinach or lettuce and mustard. It's a pretty filling sandwich and with a side of baked chips or a piece of fruit and one of those 100-calorie snack packs, you're really getting a good, low-cal lunch.0
