Hi,
I weigh myself on Fridays...last Friday I had gained FOUR pounds from the previous week, this week I've gained another 3.5 pounds. Now granted I have not been eating that great, but 7.5 pounds in a week?
Has anyone ever experienced this?
Could my scale be off?
Water weight?
I am so upset with this.
Thanks

Definitely some water weight in there. 4 lbs in one week of fat would have meant you had to eat 14,000 (1lb of fat = 3,500calories) calories surplus. Did you do that much surplus? If you didn't then it's not all fat.0

i'm gonna bet on water weight. You would have had to have eaten 26,250 calories over maintenance to gain that kinda weight.
If you started exercising your body is holding onto water for repair. Keep at it. You got this.
Just in case you haven't seen these...

I gained 10 pounds when I went on a 6 day vacation but it only took 3 days to take it off after getting back on track. It's definitely just water unless you are eating like 10k calories a day.0

I gained 9 pounds in two weeks when I was in the UK for work.. When I got home (and back on track) about 4-5 days later it was all gone.0

How do I get rid of water weight?0
-
In what way do you mean? I'd have to eat 14000 calories in one week or 14000 over a normal day?0
-
14,000 over the week, OVER your maintenance level. So if your maintenance calories for a day is 1500, you'd have had to have eaten 3500 calories every day to gain 4lbs in a week.
You lose water by drinking plenty of water.0 -
How do I get rid of water weight?
It may sound counter intuitive but drink water. Also watch your sodium intake.0 -
drink tons of water it will actually help to get rid of the water weight
sounds strange but its true0 -
So glad I found this site-I gained 4 pounds in one week-I was exercising and still eating clean-And my body feels smaller-So i stopped weighing myself. Will do once a month-never would have thought water retention-thank you everyone for the words and support.0

Water will work itself out. Up your water intake.
I'd also take measurements.
I've been lifting heavy, my scale hasn't moved at all. Up and down the same 2 lbs for 2 months. ALL of my measurements though are smaller. Muscles need water for repair.0
