Weight fluctuations

I invested in a scale today. I weighed in at the gym (before any exercise) and I was 113lbs. After my dinner I set up my new scale at home and decided to test it out and it read 118lbs, which I'm guessing will be because of my food and drink consumption. But it normal to fluctuate 5lbs throughout the course of a day after eating/drinking or is one more accurate than the other? I am only planning on weighing myself every week from now on because I know how the scale can jump up and down from day to day but is a 5lb difference realistic?

Yes. Don't weigh yourself multiple times a day, though - it is of no benefit and will drive you crazy if you let it.

Just be consistent in your weigh-ins - a lot of people like to go for first thing in the morning, after going to the toilet but before eating breakfast. Always use the same scale, in the same spot. I find it helpful to remember that weight is just a number. Whilst my scale may not be super accurate (so it might show a different number if I weigh in elsewhere), the difference between yesterday's weight and today's is the thing to focus on, and if the general trend is downwards, I'm happy.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't usually weigh myself twice in the same day. I plan on doing it once a week, on the same day, first thing in the morning. I just did it today with having just bought the scale to test it out because the last one I got was faulty. Just wondering if the difference was normal..
