Exercising, eating less, gaining weight. Help.

Hi guys. So I ran into another problem during my weight loss journey. it started about two weeks ago when I cam back from school. In school for three weeks I had stopped exercising more (except for 30 minute walks to school) and had a sort of loose diet situation going on, when I tried to keep my calories to 1200 sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. However by the time I had come back from school I had lost 5kg. The day I came back, I ate a lot of food, but then after that I continued my diet and exercise. ( Eating about 1200 cal a day, burning about 500) Here's where things get tricky.

Three days or so after I came back from school I nearly collapsed from malnutrition and I had a severe headache also. I took some meds for that and started a little better, still around 1200 calories, but I also took anti-malaria meds. Two days after the incident I found out that i had gained TWO KG.

Its been over a week now, and I still havent managed to lose most of that two Kg and it is seriously bothering me and making me feel really defeated. So I guess my question is 1. how did I gain so much in 4 days when I was still doing basically what I was doing and 2. how do I get rid of the wieght?

All help is appreciated.

You fainted from malnutrition and took anti-malarials? I presume you were under the care of a doctor?

How old are you? Since you are in boarding school I am going to say not 18 yet?
I think you need to worry about eating properly before you worry about losing weight since you are malnurished!!

Eat more. You should be netting AT LEAST 1200 calories a day. If you're eating 1200 and exercising 500, then your net is way to low.

I hope that you realize what you are doing is not very healthy!
If I understand you correctly - you eat gross 1200 calories, and you burn 500? That'd put you at a 700 net calorie! That is really really low.

Don't worry about those 2kg! It's most likely just water weight, you could not have gained 2kg of fat in 4 days, that would mean you ate 14,000 calories. If I'm not wrong, meds can often cause water retention.

But please - you've fainted because of malnutrition. Don't worry about the weight loss too much atm, worry about your health! It is what comes first! Focus on eating healthy, nutritious foods, and then incorporate a slight caloric deficit of 500 calories under. You only seem to have 30ish more lbs to lose, so a 1lb/wk weight loss should be good.

Well, sort off. There was a parasite going around and it was more precautionary than anything.

Thing is though, I start eating late into the day so I tend not to eat as much. Also I dont really feel that hungry so it's harder to eat more. But I do realize that i need to increase my intake. Thanks so much for replying!

    Increasing intake isn't too hard.

If you're not feeling hungry, might I suggest eating high calorie foods? You can tend to eat less of them, but get in more calories. Such as peanuts, soy nuts, almonds, peanut butter, ice cream, cheese, etc.

Or drink your calories. Have a glass of milk in the morning. If you drink coffee, use creamer. Replace one glass of water a day with a glass of juice.

Thank you! Well technically, I didnt exactly faint, I just got really dizzy and a really bad headache and my mom got really mad at me for that and made me eat healthier. And thanks for explaining the 2kg gain, I think someone told me something similar but i wasnt sure. Thank you again!

I think you need to eat healthy food that are good for your health because you are malnutrition, healthy eating and good exercise or tough workout is very good for health and you will not become weak or gain weight.
