Gluten intolerance???

I was advised to avoid gluten for a while to see if that would alleviate some of the symptoms of hypothyroid. I did really good for about a week then ate a burger for dinner. It was delicious!!! BUT that night I woke up coughing up something bitter and my throat was on fire. I figured it was because I hadn't had anything greasy in a while. A couple weeks later (avoiding gluten the whole time) I ate a roll at dinner. The same thing happened. And because I like to repeat the same mistakes I intentionally ate a piece of bread yesterday to see what would happen. Same thing. I never had that happen before I started avoiding gluten but I kinda think that gluten is the culprit. Has anybody had a similar experience? Could it be worse because it was out of my system? I'm really confused by this but I know I don't want to eat it anymore (of course I probably will) Anybody tried this for hypothyroid?

Are you sure that you have stopped eating gluten? Some people make sure it is completely out of their kitchens: toasters, teflon, mayonnaise and mustard and such in the fridge that touched a knife that had gluten, cutting boards, . . . .0
