Nighttime snacking

So I am great with my intake all day. I bring my lunch to work everyday, including snacks and everything I can eat. I can resist going to the cafeteria and buying anything other than coffee or an occasional afternoon zero cal drink. (I work in a large hospital and it actually has decent food too). I get home and that's when it falls apart. If I'm not running around getting things ready for the next day, I can't stop myself from picking at everything on my house. I make my kids lunches, I take a bite of peanut butter (hopefully just one too), I'm cooking dinner...I'm taking tastes. That's a good night too. I have the after dinner moments where I'm literally walking around snacking from one thing to the next and it's like I can't stop myself. I typically budget in a night time snack of about 200 calories. Mostly fruit/veggies with some pretzels or a fiber one 90 cal snack but sometimes popcorn. And if I can't get the presnack snacking user control, I sometimes can keep myself from eating the other. It's so frustrating. My TDEE is 1980, so my goal cals are 1480 with a 500 daily deficit. I actually try to come in at 1300 because I have not met my goal weight and have gained some back since I had to stop running a year ago. I am not sedentary though. I Jazzercise (ave cal burn 420) at least 5 times and typically 6 classes per week. How do I either keep the food out of my mouth? Anyone else have this issue? I keep telling myself its a lack of self control but maybe I'm not eating enough during the day and it catches up to me at night??

Try drinking water while you're preparing the food for your family. It doesn't make you feel full for very long, but it works for me until I get over the cravings. I'm just like you though. I do great throughout the day, and then come time to relax for the evening the cravings kick in BAD. GOOD LUCK :)
